Aneurin

Aneurin is a semi-observational short documentary that tells the story of 91-year-old Nye, who looks after a flock of racing pigeons from the garden of his formerly dentist surgery home. He takes us through a day in his life of caring for the birds, while we cross-cut with an interview where he tells us a range of stories from a life well lived.

This was one of the most stressful, intense, difficult and undeniably rewarding things I’ve ever got to do. I’m beyond proud of me and my team have been able to produce, and the professionalism we demonstrated as we went about producing the work. There genuinely isn’t much different I would do if we could go back and start the project over, maybe other than rein in the scope of the interview and documentary’s overall focus and understand that it’s a ten-minute documentary; By this, I mean we had that much content we found it hard to pace it well without feeling like we hadn’t included enough detail. If we could let it breathe a bit more, I would, but I’m really pleased with the creative piece we created as a team, and it’s something I’m proud to say I directed.
